About Us

Founded by Master James Carrothers, North Star Tai Chi teaches the Yang’s 108 Tai Chi Set plus a whole lot more.

We are located in Sarnia and London, Ontario.  Both schools utilize the same teaching methods, which provide our students with the highest quality of Tai Chi instruction that can be offered.

North Star offers the program - Ten Levels of Achievement to Mastership, in order to standardize the requirements needed to become a Master.  This allows each of our students the opportunity to work towards their own personal goals within the Art, and at their own pace.

In addition to our regular classes, we also offer Seminars for the general public, and Workshops to Organizations and Community Groups interested in an activity for their employees/members to promote better health.

London Instructors

Perry Kloibhofer

Perry studied Kenpo Karate (Tracy System) for three years before switching to North Star Tai Chi under Master James Carrothers in the fall of 1995.  To date, Perry has completed Level VII towards his mastership in Tai Chi Chuan.  In 1998 Perry and Ron Dewaele opened the London school to teach North Star Tai Chi Yang Style under Master Carrothers supervision. His teaching style enables him to adjust the information and gear it to each student's personal needs, promoting a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Perry's goal is to provide an understanding as to how complex, yet fun, and rewarding Tai Chi can be.

Ron Dewaele

Ron's introduction to Martial Arts began in the early 80's with three years of Goju Ryu. Years later when Ron injured his back, he turned to Tai Chi in conjunction with Chiropractic treatment to correct the injury. In less than a year, his Chiropractor noted the positive impact Tai Chi was having on Ron's recovery. He no longer needed the treatments and was encouraged to continue with the Tai Chi. Under Master Carrothers instruction, Ron has achieved his Level VII toward his Mastership in Tai Chi Chuan. As an instructor, Ron enjoys assisting our students as they experience their own improvements through Tai Chi.
